The Irish take over LA

It looks like everyone I know is moving to the west coast these days and down in LA the Irish are ganging up to take over the world. Mike Got Spiked have just relased their latest album Live and Acoustic (on itunes), with Lorraine Maher joining for a song and mixed and mastered by Jason Donaghy in perfect sound studios. A very Irish album but with a big LA influence in the sound.
With a title like live and acoustic I was expecting a quiet departure from their usual mad in your face wall of rock stage show but it's very upbeat, very catchy and still very rocking. It slows down for Stop Thinking with Lorraine, who has an amazing voice and I'm really liking the catchy No Is Not An Answer and Sleeping With the Enemy. A lot of it puts me in mind of Sublime, I think some of the west coast has rubbed off here.
If you're not convinced yet check them out on myspace, they've got some songs streaming there and try before you buy.
