What’s the next gadget that you want to buy?
Science Week are giving away Wii's. All I have to do is answer another simple question, what’s the next gadget that you want to buy?
I'm tempted to say iPhone. I mean I do want one. I got my grubby little hands on one for a few minutes to play with and it is really cool. Really really cool. But that's not the next gadget I'll buy. I'm waiting for a second revision to iron out all the bugs, and a mobile network that can handle decent amounts of data crossing it. And it to be available.
Nope, what I want is a pair of those shades that show two screens in such a way that it looks like your own huge screen. Something like these. This idea has been around for a while,. but the price is now coming down to one I'm more willing to pay.
Why? Well I used to travel. A lot. Fly to London or Manchester or Newcastle on a Sunday or Monday and back on a Friday. Every week. I've hung round a whole lot of airports. Long delays for planes. Spent many hours on planes. These days I can travel anywhere, no problem, I have my Bose QC 2
So this gadget, giving me my own personal 50 inch screen on a plane or in an airport lounge? Well it's just extra comfort. A bit of luxury. That happens to be damn cool. Something that I don't really need, but gosh would I love one. I think this is a great invention. No more stuck watching some terrible movie on long haul flights, or watching episodes of the Simpsons on a PSP. No, on my next long haul (Vancouver in January), I'll just lie back, order a drink and settle in to the Lord of the Rings Trilogy on my own personal cinema screen.
By the way, for anyone out there reading this, Christmas is coming soon. Hint. Hint.
