Sublime Wines

Damien asked a while back if anyone wanted to review some wines. Free booze? I was there. The lovely people at sublime wines thought they might get some good internet traffic from the reviews on this blog, a bit of cheap advertising. Fools. As if I would give them a good review just for some cheap plonk. Oh, a bottle of Dona Rosa Albarino? Oh, that would do nicely. Pay per click? Pay per glass. Anyway, the bottle duly arrived, nicely packaged and not at all broken. The nice people had even sent me a letter about the wine (you can check it out here). Absolutely instant appeal with summer fruits, peaches and apricot. They even recommended trying it with pork.
Right says I. This, from my expert opinion (judging by the colour of the bit round the cork, and the details in the letter), is a white wine. Now I'm no white wine drinker, I'm partial to the odd drop of chianti but whites have never been my tipple of choice. However, with friends who play for that team (the white wine drinkers) arriving for the weekend, I knew who my guinea pigs would be. Being the master of wines that I am, I stuck the wine in the fridge as white wine should be cooled and then relaxed to contemplate the menu for my guests at the weekend. Roast pork, my pork in a mustard sauce, chops? Choices choices.
Saturday came and after three or four rounds of beer we got round to opening the wine. With beef enchiladas. Not pork. Oops. I did go as far as using proper wine glasses and not mugs. Ok, sorry, three wine glasses and one beer stein.
The reviews.
Conor : "It's a fairly inoffensive table wine"
Ursula : "It's quite nice."
Sinead : "Hey that's not bad, I'd drink that again."
Me : "Not bad for a white wine."

Overall, it's not a bad wine, at 14 euro a bottle it's a grand wine. Can't go wrong. Even after a few beers and with the wrong food it's still a grand little wine.
Would I use Sublime Wines again? I'm not too sure about picking wine on the internet. I don't know enough about them and I like the wine shop, with some one there who will recommend a wine. Sublime Wines do seem to have a lot of information to help your choice, with recommendations for which wine for different foods and they also sell mixed cases. So yes, I think I would use them again, if I can shop for wine while sitting at work and have it delivered, well why not? Em, no boss, I'm working.... Really
